VLOOKUP + Data Validation. 10 Steps. Create and Learn


Use them together to create great dynamic information in your spreadsheet:

VLOOKUP: use one of the lookup and reference functions, when you need to find things in a table or a range by row. 
 Data Validation: Use to control the type of data or the values that users enter into a cell.















1- Type the values and words in range A1:C10 as in the figure below.


2- Go to "Page Layout" tab, "Sheet Options" group and deselect "Gridlines View".


3 - Go to "Home" tab, "Borders" and "All borders to the ranges A1:C2 and A5:C10.



4- Select A2. Go to "Data" tab, "Data Tools" group and click on "Data Validation.

5- Select "List" and type =A6:A10  in "Source"
.

6- Click on the list and select "Maria".

7- Select B2 and type the formula =VLOOKUP(A2,A6:C10,B4,0)

8- Select B3 and type the formula =VLOOKUP(A$2,A6:C10,C4,0)
